[John was afraid he was going to say that. Ugh. He would be comfortable with just Mystery's thoughts to focus on. But more active subjects...should be okay.]

Why? It's not like you can read their thoughts without touching them yet. It's better to learn how to listen to others now while its just their emotions. When your power grows, the range will be much farther, so it might throw you off if you don't learn now.

[He will have to ask what Jade's nickname for him is. Probably something with a cheery disposition. Mystery doesn't seem so cheery all the time however.

John will show up where he said he would show up. He doesn't exactly know who he is looking for though.]

Luckily for them both that ??? is a complete creeper and stalker by program, so he's already seen at least one video feed conversation of John. He knows who he's looking for. So when a young man in a grey hoodie with spiky blond hair walks up to you, John, don't be incredibly surprised.]

Hey. [And just to make it seem like a really good guess:] You're John, right?

Sunny. Yeah, that definitely sounds like a name Jade would give someone. So where do I even start with this power? I still don't really understand what use it has.

First off, at your level, you can't really do much. I'd use it mostly to tell how people are feeling around you.

[He's moving off, gesturing for John to follow him through the Welcome Hall to find a place to sit.]

Basically, yes. Vague thought topics as well. It's easier to tell if someone's hiding something too in that sense. But let's say you're using Telepathy in an area with more than one person-- you'll have to manage focus on one individual and if they're all feeling the same emotion, that organizing may be a little tricky. The same applies to thoughts once you can read them without contact, but it involves more concentration.

[Whether John decides to take a seat or not, ??? offers his hand towards him.] How does practicing reading thoughts sound?

[John does decided to follow suit and listen to what Mystery had to say. He assumes that this skill was actually just going to become useful in a higher level. He would be granted more freedom with it.

But at the same time it sounds extremely overwhelming. He nods, letting his mentor know that he heard him and he definitely understood.]

That sounds like a good idea.

[He takes the hand. What is he supposed to do while holding this?]

[Since ??? doesn't want John reading his thoughts exactly, he'll be focus on a native in the district who's thinking about some sort of recipe to make. It's a little easier to do since ??? and the native are both in relatively calm moods.]

My method of getting Telepathy to work might be a little different than yours [since he processes data instead] but try finding the feeling like you're reaching out to someone or listening to something.

[John nods and sits there quietly. He tries to feel like he's reaching out to someone. But it's very silent at first. John gets a little discouraged.]

It's quiet.

[Probably because John didn't give it enough concentration. So...he tries again. Trying to make the best of his concentration can offer.]

It's okay, just keep trying.

['Maybe indirect thoughts don't work...' Despite his display of patience, there's a brief moment of indecisiveness before ??? decides to think up some phrases for John to catch.

'Can you hear me now? It takes some concentration to get used to it. Maybe you'll get to my level, but listening to the whole city is kind of rough.']

[He tries again. Reaching out for something in that little dark void. It's quiet again for a good while and then he hears 'listening to the whole city is kind of rough'

I heard something. But I don't think it was a complete sentence.

At least you got something. Here-- I'll try repeating something in my head. See how that works out.

[As for what? He tries to keep it simple with just 'Can you hear me now?' over and over.]

[John stops and waits. It took awhile before he was finally able to hear it. Which made him grin. To up the ante here he tries to send back 'I heard you, I heard you!']
